The Washington Internship Institute (WII), an educational nonprofit organization, focuses on three principles: public service, leadership and professional development. Rigorous academics and practical internship and immersion experiences in the most powerful city in the world enable WII to create active citizens prepared to serve in their local, state, national and global communities in the 21st century.
The Washington Internship Institute's semester-long academic internship program is carefully designed to provide college sophomores, juniors, seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students from the U.S. and abroad with practical, hands-on experience and academically rigorous courses emphasizing public service, leadership, and professional development.

Since 1990, more than 2500 college students, recent graduates, and graduate students have participated in our personalized academic internship program or immersion seminars in Washington, D.C. A diverse group, they have represented all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and more than 50 countries, bringing a plurality of views, beliefs and opinions into each track.
